Fanuc, a leading robots
supplier provides a huge range of multi-purpose articulate
robots and application specific articulate robots.
Fanuc provides various categories of multi-purpose
articulate robots, including, small tabletop size, medium/high
payload, and overhead rail-mounted. Depending on the
models, Fanuc multi-purpose articulate robot has 4/5/6
degree of freedom, electric servo-driven, and some of
the following common features: |
- directly-coupled drives, which are more reliable
than belts, pulleys or chains;
- Robot can flip over backwards for a larger work
envelope;
- With upright, angle, wall, or invert mounting
options;
- Hollow joint construction encloses all cables
and hoses to eliminate snagging;
- Absolute encoder positioning eliminates homing
or calibration at power-up;
- Fail-safe mechanical brakes on all joints to
increase safety;
- Provide optional collision protection;
- Internet ready teach pendant for even easier
programming and custom cell;
- Machine vision for guidance and inspection;
- Pneumatic and electrical (8 I/O digital outputs)
connections;
- Extended communications capabilities: FTP, DeviceNet,
A/B RIO, Profibus, Genius, FANUC Model A I/O rack,
CC-Link, etc;
- For the overhead rail-mounted robots, it is
possible to install dual arms on a single rail and
allows two identical robot arms to share a single
CPU to handle large/heavy parts;

Kawasaki offers 3 families of 6 axes (up to 7 axes)
multi-purpose articulate robots:
|
F Series: Designed for applications
with light to medium payloads (2 to 60 kg). The F-Series
articulate robots are highly adaptable with multiple mounting
options (wall, ceiling, and floor mounting). The lightweight
slim arm construction, simplified vertical alignment, and
pedestal mounted joint one motor; allow the F-Series articulate
robots to require less floor space while maneuvering within
a large work envelope. Up to 28 variations can be created
within the series to accommodate almost any reach, payload,
or application requirement. With payload capabilities up
to 60KG and reach lengths up to 3482mm, the F-Series articulate
Robots can be configured to meet almost any light to medium
payload application, from welding, to wash down, to clean
room applications.

| The FS03 robot is a fully functional 6-Axis
articulate robot which weighs only 20 Kg and has a smallest
footprint. It has brakes on all axes, incorporates internal
pneumatic lines, and allows it to be mounted directly to
a machine or table top. The small footprint and slim design,
coupled with a simple vertical arm configuration, allows
engineers and designers to create automated work cells while
utilizing a minimum amount of floor space. |
|
Z Series: The Z Series articulate robots
consist of eight models with payload capabilities up to
300 kg (130 to 300 kg). All of the Z series articulate robots
can be utilized with a Kawasaki 7th Axis Traversing unit,
allowing for unlimited work range expandability and flexibility.
By combining a long reach arm with a minimal amount of dead
space for the widest work envelope, high payload, and small
footprint, the Z Series articulate Robots are suitable for
heavy-duty robotic tasks in the application areas like,
spot welding, material handling, sealing, die and investment
casting, material removal, machine tending, and so on. In
addition, the Kawasaki hybrid link configuration enables
the arm to rotate back over itself without having to rotate
the major axis, thereby improving efficiency and reducing
power consumption. Furthermore, the wrist portion of the
robot has an Ingress Protection rating of IP67. The other
areas of the arm are rated at IP65. As such, the Z series
articulate Robots can operate the harshest environments.

 |
| The Kawasaki
robotic arm includes ID boards which store the necessary
servo encoder data. In the event of a production emergency,
the robotic arm can be interchanged or quickly replaced
which result in reducing system downtime. The Z Series articulate
robots are constructed utilizing modular components and
software. This flexible design allows some models to be
upgraded, such as to alter reach, payload capacities and/or
speed on the field. The ability to change the robot characteristics
provide for greater flexibility to accommodate production
and/or system changes. |

M series: M Series is the powerful
line of Kawasaki articulate robots. It has a maximum payload
capacity of 500 kg. The M-Series profile is compact through
the use of an advanced link structure; this design eliminates
the need for a large bulky counter-balance. Using advanced
engineering techniques in motor technology, the M-Series
robot is capable of industry-leading wrist torques of 3,920
N-m.
The M Series articulate robots are capable of
manipulating extremely heavy loads smoothly and safely through
the use of Kawasaki's vibration suppression control and
collision detection software. Mechanical stops and limit
switches can also be incorporated to provide a safe working
environment even when the robot is operating in a confined
work zone. |
| With maximum payload (500 kg), compact profile
design, long reach and high wrist torque, the M-Series articulate
robots are ideal for lifting payloads that exceed the limits
of most industrial robots. These robots can be utilized
in a variety of industries and applications including: handling
engines; manipulating car bodies; transferring assemblies;
moving large tools; lifting heavy construction equipment;
manipulating appliances; fixtureless manufacturing; investment
casting; forging applications; etc. |
