 LEGO Dacta ROBOLAB

LEGO Dacta ROBOLAB LEGO MINDSTORMS for Schools or LEGO Dacta ROBOLAB is a classroom solution from LEGO Educational Division that integrates robotics and programming. Both LEGO MINDSTROMS and LEGO Dacta ROBOLAB have same type of parts. The main difference is the programming language that each kit comes with and the pricing. The ROBOLAB is based on LabVIEW, from National Instruments, Texas USA. The ROBOLAB Software uses an icon-based, diagram building environment to write programs that control the RCX. The ROBOLAB is the ideal hands-on tool for helping your students learn a variety if topics including math and science, and computer and design technology. Though it is slightly more expensive, it has more components than LEGO MINDSTROMS - roughly 800+.

Sensors & datalogging Support
Analysing and exploring and presenting the data collected using the following sensors:
  • DCP Current Probe (-1A to + 1A)
  • DCP LUX light level sensor
  • DCP Designer Sensor analogue (0-2.5V)
  • DCP Barometric/Low Air Pressure
  • DCP Accelerometer - 2 alternative scales both G and m/s/s
  • Redox/Ion Selective Electrodes (-1250mV to + 1250mV)
Programming
The software contains the following five areas:
  • Journal Area - Used to discuss and predict your science project
  • Programme Area - Used to write programme for the RCX. Has five levels of programming - 3 levels in pilot and 3 levels in inventor.
  • Upload Area - Used to get the data from the RCX
  • Compare Area - Used to look ate the data that has been gathered - has five levels of viewing.
  • Compute Area - Used to observe and manipulate data - has five levels of computing from simple statistics to taking derivatives and integrals.
