The Sony AIBO Entertainment Robot

Sony AIBO Entertainment Robot Logo The centrepiece of AIBO is its intelligence. With the artificial intelligence mind, AIBO now has a personality. AIBO is capable of six feelings - happiness, sadness, fear, dislike, surprise, and anger. Its unique personality is developed with a combination of these unique instincts and feelings. By interacting with people, AIBO learn and grows. AIBO's mood and behavior changes with its environment. AIBO also has instincts to move around, to look for its toys, to satisfy its curiosity, to play and communicate with its owner, to recharge when its battery is low, and to wake up when its done sleeping. There are 28 LED lights on the Illume-face display, and by changing the pattern of lights, various expressions and feelings can be indicated, and complex animations can be displayed. Feelings, like joy, sorrow, anger can be displayed with vivid color and movement. Depending on its mood, AIBO can also flap it ears up and down, and wag its tail. When it hears something AIBO will analyze the sound and recognize words. The direction of the sound came from is also perceived and AIBO will turn his head toward the source.

 The AIBO's Structure

1.  Infrared distance sensors In combination with the vision camera, infrared distance sensors enables AIBO to have a 3-dimensional perception of its surroundings so that AIBO can judge distances by itself and avoid obstacles on its path. 2. Emotional face lights (AIBO Eyes) When AIBO is happy, the face lights will shine green, Red for when angry, A combination of white patterns express a wide variety of emotions. 3. Stereo microphones you can interact with AIBO by giving voice commands. For example, you can ask AIBO to set up its internal alarm clock. AIBO is fully aware of the noise in its environment. AIBO can locate the direction the sound is coming from, so it will actually turn towards you when you call out its name!
4. Color vision camera AIBO uses the camera to interact with you and its environment in a number of ways. AIBO can record movie clips, remember your face, take and send color pictures by email, or play programmed CD tracks by recognizing the CD cover.

9. 64 Chords MIDI speaker system AIBO can playback Internet radio, music files including MP3s and CDs; speak to you when necessary; playback pre-recorded voice messages for you; express its feelings to you with amusing sounds. 10. Paw Sensors coupled with AIBO's Artificial Intelligence, enable it to adjust its walking style depending on the type of surface. Occasionally AIBO will also want to shake hands with you by lifting one of its paws. Tickle the sensor and AIBO will gleam with delight.

12. Head touch sensor AIBO will immediately react when you stroke this touch sensor. AIBO is constantly learning from interacting with you.

13. Chin Touch Sensor AIBO is keen on being tickled on its chin sensor.

 Self Charging

Self Charging: AIBO uses visual pattern recognition technology to locate the station marker and station pole. AIBO then backs up onto the energy station. It will dismount by itself when the battery is fully charged. AIBO Robot Chargers

 AIBO's Toys

Toys: When AIBO recognizes the color and shape06-Apr-2009s. AIBO will kick the pink ball and follow it to kick it again. Also, AIBO will judge the direction from which to pick up the bone and will carrythe bone around in its mouth.
